Industrilas switches to climate effective zinc
– We are aware of our responsibility towards people, nature and the climate. Therefore, we work hard every day to develop our business and find new solutions for an increasingly sustainable tomorrow. The switch to climate effective zinc is a significant step forward, saving the equivalent of 67 trips around the world with a diesel car every year, says Fredrik Mölzer, CEO of Industrilas Group.
No impact on the products
The climate-smart zinc is produced entirely with renewable energy. This reduces emissions from zinc production by 43%. The zinc is exactly the same alloy as before and can be used directly in Industrilas' production, without any needed adjustments.
– The high quality of our products is what makes the number of customers grow year by year. Therefore, it feels especially good to be able to give our customers an indirect quality increase. Now they not only get a functionally high-performing product when they choose Industrilas, but they also get an item that is better for the environment and the future, says Fredrik Mölzer.
Innovative manufacturing on three continents
Sustainability is a central part of Industrilas' development. To operate closer to customers and suppliers, Industrilas has factories in Sweden, Mexico, and Sri Lanka. This results in shorter lead times and reduced emissions from transport. The new 17,000 square metre factory in Nässjö, which opened in 2023, was designed by Industrilas and is completely self-sufficient when it comes to heating. It also has no emissions into the air or water.
– Industrilas' vision is to be the key partner for a sustainable tomorrow. Therefore, it is our duty to lead the industry in terms of initiatives and innovation. True quality is achieved when we design solutions and manufacturing methods that are good for everyone – the customer, the end user, our employees, the environment, and the climate. We look forward to sharing further progress in the future, says Fredrik Mölzer.
Calculations
Calculations of CO2e emissions per kg produced zinc is based on our supplier's calculations according to the general principles of ISO 14064-3 Standard (Greenhouse Gases – Part 3: Specification with Guidance for the Validation and Verification of Greenhouse Gas Assertions). The calculations for the equivalent of driven kilometers in a diesel car is based on an emission factor extracted from the Ecoinvent database.
